The Rural Alaska Community Action Program (RurAL CAP) is delighted to host the 2008 Region VIII and X Community Action Partnership Conference. As the only Community Action Agency in Alaska, RurAL CAP is honored to welcome representatives from CAA’s across region VIII and X to the Last Frontier. We are also excited to welcome our many Alaska-based partners and funders to the conference.
This website is a tool to help make your travel and stay in Girdwood as comfortable as possible. The 2008 Region VIII and X Community Action Partnership Conference: “Action in the Last Frontier” will showcase speakers and presenters that will inform and motivate conference participants to Go North, Dream Big, and Take Action. 150 people representing region VIII and X Community Action Agencies and non-profits and funders from across Alaska are expected to attend.
The Region VIII and X CAP Conference will take place in beautiful Girdwood, Alaska. Girdwood is home to a plethora of activities for the outdoor enthusiast and individuals looking to experience a quaint Alaskan community.

Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, is a short 45 minute drive from Girdwood. In Anchorage people can shop tell they drop, play golf, visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center, or a myriad of other adventures.
A beautiful two-hour drive from Girdwood through the gorgeous mountains of Southcentral Alaska will bring you to Seward, a dynamic seaside community. Seward is home of glacier cruises, the Sealife Center and dozens of shops with truly an Alaskana flair.

Alaska Airlines has generously offered a 10% discount on their airfare rates for conference attendees. Travel must be completed between May 23rd and June 2nd to be eligible for the 10% discount.

• Exit International Airport via International Airport Road
• Turn right (south) on to Minnesota. Follow Minnesota (south and then east, following the curve in the road) until you reach the New Seward Highway
• Turn right (south) on to the New Seward Highway and proceed south along the Turnagain Arm for approximately 40 miles
• Turn left on to the Alyeska Highway at mile 90 along the Seward Highway (A Tesoro Gas Station and Mini-Mall are on left)
• Follow this road approximately 3 miles until you reach the large Alyeska Resort sign.
• Turn left onto Arlberg. Arlberg winds around for one mile ending up at Hotel Alyeska and Resort
